Specifically, we controlled for wave of data collection and found that people in more recent waves valued friendships more (linear effect of wave; r = 0.035, p < 0.001), were healthier ( r = 0.068, p < 0.001), were happier ( r = 0.066, p < 0.001), and reported higher life satisfaction ( r = 0.057, p < 0.001); none of our substantive findings changed (although some marginally significant effects became non-significant).
