Organizational Disaster Communication Ecology: Examining Interagency Coordination on Social Media During the Onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic

In terms of horizontal coordination, the results indicate that public agencies serving major metropolitan areas—such as the great Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas–Fort Worth regions, all exhibit relatively higher levels of content and relational coordination with the rest of the public organizations in the ecosystem, implying that the scope of service, as well as heightened disease risk in these areas, may be significant external forces driving such coordination.
