ṄO 3 roots showed an increasing trend ( Fig 3 ), leading to δ 15 N NDI values non-significantly different form the reference zero value ( S10 Table ). ṄH 4 roots showed substantially the same pattern observed for ṄH 4 leaves ( Fig 3 ), with a significant decrease from 90 to 120 d corresponding to negative δ 15 N NDI value at the final stage ( S10 Table ) indicating 15 N depletion in DNA.
