When it comes to the influence of augmentation procedure, subgroup analyses demonstrated that in favor of the extra-short implants was found in the reconstructed group at 1 year (WMD: − 0.179, CI − 0.192 to − 0.166, P < 0.001), while its native bone counterpart failed to attain significance (WMD: − 0.198, CI − 0.707 to 0.312, P = 0.447) (Fig. 8 c).
