Although it is too early to fully quantify the mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, inferences based on research from prior pandemics and natural disasters suggest that the psychological impact of the current pandemic is likely to be significant and longstanding ( Brooks et al., 2020 ; Raker et al., 2020 ; Wheaton et al., 2012 ).
