A population-based case-control study in Germany 29 found a positive trend in the development of acute non-lymphocytic leukemia in patients with smoking exposure in the prior 2 to 10 years before diagnosis, with no such trend identified for smoking exposure in the prior 10 to 20 years before diagnosis.
