Consistent with the previously published study ( Gursul et al., 2018 ), the gentle touch intervention resulted in a 39% reduction in the magnitude of the noxious-evoked brain activity, but a significant intervention effect was not observed (although the result indicated borderline significance) when baseline sensitivity was not accounted for, likely due to the lack of power with this sample size (linear regression, t = 1.95, p=0.05, Figure 3B , Study 2 indicates a power of 40% for a sample of this size without accounting for baseline sensitivity, Figure 2B ).
