Cuticle analysis of Ailsa Craig y / y showed a significant decrease in phenolics and cutin and increase in waxes and polysaccharides compared to the wildtype (Supplementary Table 4 ), which would be in agreement with the overlap of the QTLs for phenolics, waxes and cutin and the almost significant QTL for polysaccharides present in chromosome 1.
