An additive decomposition of the monthly complication rates into trend, seasonal, and residual components is shown in Figure 7 and shows a decreasing trend over the past 3 years, as well as a roughly 12-month seasonal periodicity with highest and lowest peaks occurring in the months of February and July, respectively.
