A large (more than 350,000 people) retrospective study conducted in Tasmania between 1995 (median population UIC: 75 μg/L) and 2013 (median population UIC: 108 μg/L) and aimed at analyzing the relationship between trends in TSH and TPOAb testing and different phases of iodine nutrition failed to detect any increasing trend over time of TPOAb following iodine salt fortification, whereas a decreasing trend of overt thyroid dysfunction was apparent [ 67 ].
