Gene clusters, mainly related to the electron transport chain and cellular respiration, were also found to be abundant in the analysis of downregulated genes in response to Smp24 and Smp43, which may explain the highly significant downregulation of anaerobic-related genes following exposure to sublethal doses of both peptides.
