Omics Technologies Modern day omics approaches, which include genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics, are becoming extremely significant for the identification and characterization of vital gene-protein-metabolite networks, new drug metabolites, complete genomes, transcriptomes, and proteomes of medicinal plants, and the responses of human cells to drugs or whole ethno-botanical plants for the medicinal use and large-scale production of plant-derived medicines [ 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 ].
