This may be significant for the immunogenicity of the OVA 323–339 peptide because the MHCII contents in early and late endosomal compartments (pH 5.9 and 4.5, respectively) are low, compared to the intermediate endosome stage (pH 5.2). 13 , 28 Taken together, these observations suggest that loop insertion stabilizes OVA R339T and proteolytic fragments that contain the OVA 323–339 peptide at the stage of endosomal processing where optimal peptide loading of MHCII is believed to occur.
