E2 replacement increased the percentage of TRPV1-positive masseter afferents in the OVX groups; an increasing trend was observed in the 20 μg/d E2 group (28.1 ± 3.46%), and there were significantly higher percentages in the 80 μg/d (36.3 ± 3.33%) and 200 μg/d (42.8 ± 3.30%) E2 groups than in the 0 μg/d E2 group (21.2 ± 0.76%) ( p < 0.05; Figure 4 c).
