A Comparison Between the Therapeutic Effect of Metformin Alone versus a Combination Therapy with Insulin Glycaemic Control The performed statistical analysis of data using the post hoc test revealed that after the six months follow-up active treatment, the level of HbA1c significantly decreased from 7.5 ± 0.2% to 7.2 ± 1.1 (mean decrease- 0.7 ± 1.7%, p<0.0001) in the intensive metformin dose group and showed a highly significant decrease from 7.4 ± 0.6% to 6.8 ± 1.3% (mean decrease- 1.1 ± 2.3, p<0.001) in the metformin and insulin-treated patients.
