There was a highly significant difference in the percentage of cells classed as place cells by the different methods (p = 1.35x10 -9 , linear mixed-effects model with method as a fixed-effect and mouse ID, with session number nested, as a random effect), with the Information method detecting the highest number (47.0 +/- 12.2% (mean +/- std)), followed by the Peak method (34.5 +/- 11.1%) and the Stability method (16.5+/- 8.8%), while the Combination method only classified 3.9 +/- 1.9% of cells as place cells.
