128 Of relatively modest size by current standards, this study examined 9229 nonsynonymous single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a North American population of diverse ethnicity from the Dallas Heart Study and identified a single highly significant association between increased hepatic triacylglycerol accumulation measured using non-invasive proton MR spectroscopy and the patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing 3 (PNPLA3) gene locus.
