This paper has shown that there is an increasing trend in the use of natural materials for composites obtained, with a special focus on waste materials or by-products of other processes, but that further analyses are needed in order to fully understand to what extent the use of biobased matrices and fillers/reinforcements contribute to the sustainable development goals.
