We also noticed that a parent’s birth year would positively influence recombination rates ( P = 1.51 × 10 –31 ) with a significant quadratic term ( P = 1.01 × 10 –40 ), indicating either an increasing trend of recombination rate in the dairy cattle population or some inherent confounding in the data.
