Several studies ( 30 , 31 ) have shown that, after vaccination, the mumps virus-specific antibody concentrations decreased, vaccine effectiveness decreased, and the risk of developing mumps virus infection increased again, which are consistent with the results of our study: the incidence of mumps in Wuhan again showed an increasing trend from 2017 to 2018.
