amyloliquefaciens QST713—a strain isolated from the soil of a Californian organic peach orchard with a demonstrated effective broad-spectrum bactericide and fungicide activity ( 43 ) through a number of different mechanisms of action ( 44 , 45 )—showed a slight but significant effect on the beta-diversity of fungal communities ( R 2 = 0.007, P value 0.04) and an even slighter and just marginally significant effect on bacterial communities ( R 2 = 0.004, P value 0.07) (see Table S1 in the supplemental material).
