Since the filtered elutriate contained just one-tenth of the PAHs in the unfiltered elutriate, the fact that the larvae fed algae only contaminated with filtered elutriate was able to reach one third the PAH concentration of the larvae directly reared in the unfiltered elutriate provides additional support that ingestion is a highly significant mode of PAH accumulation.
