In the present study, the day after reaching >5,000 m, the mean increase of ∼9% in SpO 2 with PEP 10 breathing was highly significant and exceeds the effect we have previously reported at lower altitude (+7% SpO 2 with PEP 10 breathing after 2–3 days at 4,350 m) ( Nespoulet et al., 2013 ).
