showed that 0.5 mEq/kg sodium bicarbonate supplementation for 30 days did reduce plasma aldosterone and endothelin-1 levels in patients with CKD stage G1 or G2.[ 12 ] In agreement, we also observed that sodium bicarbonate reduced plasma aldosterone, although this was of borderline significance.
