In the dose-response analysis of 10 eligible studies, 14 16 20 24 29 30 36 42 43 44 a marginally significant inverse association was observed between a 1 g/day increase in ALA intake and CHD mortality (pooled relative risk 0.95, 95% confidence interval 0.90 to 1.01, I 2 =10.8%; P=0.34 for heterogeneity) ( table 3 and supplementary figure 10).
