“Inflammaging” has a subtle definition, which is distinguished from “inflammation”, and is described as the low-grade, chronic, systemic inflammation in aging, in the absence of overt infection (“sterile” inflammation), and is a highly significant risk factor for both morbidity and mortality in the elderly [ 14 , 15 , 16 ].
