Among tortoises in the genus Chelonoidis ( Table 1 ), highly significant differences ( p < 0.0001) were found in overall positivity and for the detected virus types between the different species, with a remarkably high positivity rate in Argentine tortoises (28.57%, 90% of which were TeHV1) compared to all of the other Chelonoidis spp. tested.
