In the most recent meta-analysis, which included 31 RCT lifestyle interventions ( Singh et al., 2019 ), intentional weight loss among adults with overweight or obesity was not associated with a statistically significant reduction in all-cause mortality, although the odds ratio of 0.86 (95% confidence interval 0.73-1.02, p = 0.09) was very close to statistical significance ( Figure 3 top).
