Since then, there has been a decreasing trend in IHM use among patients admitted with congestive heart failure and cardiogenic shock. 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 It is essential to highlight that studies evaluating the role of IHM; including the ESCAPE trial, excluded patients with CS and were conducted before the current era of advances in MCS. 11 , 14 , 15 Using a large nationally representative sample of patients with CS, we sought to determine the impact of IHM use, as well as the timing of use, on clinical outcomes including in‐hospital mortality among patients admitted with CS.
