The valence × condition interaction (i.e., subjective response to social regulation) fell short of significance for self‐reported negative mood (coefficient estimate [standard error; SE] = −0.29 [0.16], t [15.3] = −1.85, p = .08), and was not significant for self‐reported perceived bodily arousal (coefficient estimate [SE] = −0.01 [0.19], t [19.2] = −0.04, p = .97). 4 DISCUSSION The present study demonstrated the role of interpersonal context in neural response to negative visual stimuli in two ways.
