Due to this evidence and the similarity with the upwelling conditions operating along the Chilean coast, it can be suggested that these environmental impacts can also be affecting the production and sustainability of the scallop aquaculture industry in northern Chile, which have also shown a decreasing trend in landings over the last 2 decades ( Lagos et al., 2016 ; Lardies et al., 2017 ).
