Highlights - Our findings indicated an increasing trend with fluctuations in the prevalence of multimorbidity among the older Chinese adults, as is similar to different age, sex, and region groups. - We identified several important disease combinations, including a highly prevalent hypertension cluster, likely to coexist the diabetes cluster and the cancer, TB, and Parkinson's disease cluster. - Our study indicated further etiological studies, the generation of prevention strategies, and the formulation of public health policies on the multimorbidity for LMICs.
