While the causes for CC are not clearly known and may be multifactorial, 16 we postulate that the low incidence with the LWBI could be related to the effect of less weight causing less mechanical irritation over time, and therefore we see a decreasing trend for CC in the long term as opposed to the steady growth in CC that we see in other studies with traditional implants within similar time frames.
