In a recent meta-analysis, including all RCTs in patients undergoing various types of abdominal surgery published between 1966 and 2017, a reduction in overall postoperative morbidity in the prehabilitation group (OR 0.63, 95%CI 0.46–0.87) with a composite pulmonary morbidity endpoint (OR 0.40, 95%CI 0.23–0.68), and borderline significance for reduction in LOS was seen [ 46 ].
