We find provisioning has a small, borderline-significant effect ( P = 0.045, effect = −27.5%) on the age at weaning, but our results indicate that a more-important driver of earlier age at weaning may be infant carrying, especially by males (although this model is not quite significant either: P = 0.0086, effect = −48.9%; male carrying is the model with the lowest AIC, and the AIC of “others carrying” is within 2).
