Conclusions Our results showed a connection between polymyxin sales and colistin resistance in Spanish pigs for food-production in a range of nine years, and a decreasing trend of colistin resistance ( mcr-1 gene) since the EMA and AEMPS strategies were applied in 2016 to reduce colistin use in animals.
