3 Results 3.1 Behavioural results As seen from Table 1 , there was a marginally significant difference between the boys and girls in reading accuracy, as reflected by character recognition (t = 1.916, df = 101.9, p = 0.058), but the sex difference in reading comprehension, as reflected by silent sentence reading, was not significant (t = 1.200, df = 94.713, p = 0.233).
