28 While neuroticism has received somewhat less attention as a risk factor for dementia than depressive symptomatology, a recent meta-analysis found highly significant relations of neuroticism to dementia. 8 Across 12 prospective studies, 8 each SD increase in neuroticism score was associated with an incremental increase in dementia risk (pooled HR=1.24, 95% CI 1.15 to 1.33).
