Comparison of the inclination of naturally erupting canines with the stages of development of the canine revealed statistically highly significant differences ( p < 0.001) (Table 3 ), with the inclination of the maxillary canine being greater in the earlier stages of root development (Stages 1 and 2) and significantly ( p < 0.001) greater when the root was third of its final length (Stage 2) if overlapping occurred (Table 4 ).
