For our study, while there has been a decreasing trend in U.K. ffCO 2 emissions since 2010, this trend is not visible in the APO-based ffCO 2 at WAO (as shown in Fig. 2 ), due to the dominating influence of atmospheric transport variability on the ffCO 2 signal compared to a relatively smaller decreasing trend; thus, in our case, there is no requirement to account for any ffCO 2 emissions trend before training.
