These results indicate long lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and agree with most longitudinal studies in the general population, which have reported similar outcomes or a decreasing trend of anxiety and depression between these periods ( Niedzwiedz et al., 2020 ; Salfi et al., 2020 ; Fancourt et al., 2021 ; González-Sanguino et al., 2021 ; O’Connor et al., 2021 ; Pieh et al., 2021 ; Somma et al., 2021 ).
