However, given that ibrutinib may be administered continuously for years, the toxicity associated with prolonged antiviral prophylaxis and drug-resistance may be significant. 8 Previous studies on much smaller series of patients reported a variable incidence of reactivation ranging from 0% to 13%. 4 , 6 , 7 In our cohort, with a median duration of ibrutinib treatment of 12 months, only two of the 108 patients developed a HBV reactivation with a cumulative incidence of 1.9%.
