In contrast, sargramostim, a recombinant human GM-CSF is under investigation, to improve the immune response by recruiting neutrophils, dendritic cells and macrophages to fight the virus and to repair tissue damage ( Table 1 ), although there may be significant risks including neurotoxicity ( 103 ).
