Given this child-centred interactive focus, we can speculate that the first improvement is linked to the motivation and ability to meet other persons and interact through nonverbal cues, whereas progress in language may be significant to a lesser extent because they will emerge subsequently as the child becomes more willing to interact, communicate, make eye contact and share attention with others, which are prerequisites to develop verbal communication.
