In the one-month follow-up, a decreasing trend was observed in the OHI-S in both groups indicating an improvement in the oral health status, which was consistent with previous studies (Dias et al., 2010 ; Popple et al., 2016 ; Zhou et al., 2020 ).

The sentences
The parents in both groups showed an increasing trend of oral health knowledge in all items except item 2 (Eating sweet food causes tooth decay) and item 5 (It is beneficial to visit a dentist for regular check-ups) in the intervention group, which showed a slight decline of 1.3% in the post intervention assessment.
The percentage of the parents’ oral health knowledge and attitude had a slightly increasing trend compared to the pre-intervention phase in both groups.
