For example, the official surveillance data on the HIV seroprevalence among male adolescents in Brazil demonstrates that over time, AMSM have a higher HIV prevalence in comparison to heterosexual boys; furthermore, there is an increasing trend among adolescents and young MSM aged 17 to 22 years old: 0.56% in 2002 (Szwarcwald et al., 2005 ), 1.23% in 2007 (Szwarcwald et al., 2011 ) and 1.32% in 2016 (Sperhacke et al., 2018 ).
