In terms of the proportions of patients receiving effective acute- and continuation-phase antidepressant treatment, we found evidence that E-MHC patients were less likely to have received effective acute-phase antidepressant medication treatment than were HMO patients; an identical finding almost reached statistical significance when comparing the E-MHC to PPOs.
