Similarly, Thomas & Winner ( 2002 ) found that adult leaves had LMA 43% higher than full‐light saplings (0.5–2 m height) in Pseudotsuga menziesii and 80% higher in Tsuga heterophylla ; and in a meta‐analysis of seven similar open‐canopy comparisons from the literature found a highly significant effect size of 2.5.
