Using cases who survived to the 90 or 99th percentile survival based on life tables (11,262 and 3,484) and controls (25,483 and 5,000) who died or had last contact at or below the 60th percentile for survival, and GWAS data with imputation for 73,000,000 SNPs, APOE e2 was found to have the largest association with longevity in the 99th percentile ( OR = 1.47 discovery and OR = 1.35 validation samples) and was highly significant.
