In late pregnancy and cord blood, weaker associations were still present for boys and the 2-stage model for the combined exposure of early pregnancy, late pregnancy, and cord 25(OH)D were highly significant in boys, in keeping with the findings of males being more susceptible to developmental insults in early life with regard to cardiovascular health ( 44 , 45 ).
